6/26/2006Prince George Sotheby’s International Realty Wins Regional Conservation Award

June 26, 2006 Pawleys Island, SC – Winyah Group, a Chapter of the SC Sierra Club recently presented their 2006 Friend of the Coast/Business award to Prince George Sotheby’s International Realty (PGSIR). (The Winyah Group is the Horry/Georgetown Chapter of the SC Sierra Club). The honor recognizes the luxury real estate firm’s contribution to land conservation in the Lowcountry. In the last eighteen months, their clients placed more than 10,000 acres of important ecological habitat in conservation easements with The Nature Conservancy and Ducks Unlimited.


“Phillip Lammonds, Carol Jayroe and other PGSIR brokers go the extra mile to insure that buyers of unique ecological and historical properties are aware of their conservation options,” explained Cynthia Powell, The Winyah Group’s Sierra Club Chairperson. “Their involvement in the land conservation business has provided a much needed partnership for area non-profits and government agencies that focus on land protection.”


Friend of the Coast awards recognize businesses and individuals who made significant contributions towards forwarding the conservation goals and values of the Sierra Club in our local area. Nominations are taken from Sierra Club members and from the general public.


Since 1892, the goal of the Sierra Club has been "To Explore, enjoy, and protect the planet." It is the oldest and most influential conservation organization in the nation.
